Love that Segway! | The photo at the left could be captioned "Look Ma, No Hands!"
A good caption for this entire website might be "Look Ma, No Gyroscopes!"
We take our own photos, we write our own copy. We even attempt, continually, our own website design. But there's nothing to keep us on course, nothing at all. |
We maintain this record of various enthusiasms for reference, continuous development and experiment, and for your enjoyment. And enjoy it you do!
We love it when we get thank-you notes for the site, usually just after someone has roasted their own coffee, made pancakes, or found some new book.
In order to do all this for you, we read book after book after book. When we finish a book, we review it, posting a link to an online bookstore. People actually buy these books occasionally and of course we encourage you to do the same. (Gift idea for graduating Latin scholar: The Miniature Epic in Vandal Africa)
The most popular authors on the site are Mark Salzman and William Kotzwinkle, but people are also drawn to Julie Morgenstern's series of books on getting organized. The most popular book 'The Way Things Go' is not a book at all but a DVD. Trevor Salloum's Bongo Book is also a good seller.
By dint of careful examination of our webserver log files (sounds like fun, doesn't it?) we have discovered that, besides books and web design, most people who reach the website are interested in one of three things: the pancake recipe, the photo of Nike the winged victory of Samothrace, or the source code to a universally available internet program, which appeared one night in a dream.
Whatever you do, whether you support us by sending ten dollar bills to the address listed in the domain registration, or by buying the occasional textbook or DVD off the site, we love to hear from you.
Note: Unless of course you are a Nigerian who needs help transferring 17 million dollars. Oops, I forgot, that was supposed to be a big secret! Well, please keep it confidential just between us.
