Bulletproof Monk . . . . . jun 2 2003 — o16.dat

It was a fine weekend, filled with travel and entertainment, as we plumbed the mysteries of the foothill region, visiting the hitherto-unknown Azusa to take in the mysteries of Bulletproof Monk.

The nameless monk was charged with protecting the scroll which, if read from beginning to end, would confer upon the reader the power to change and control the world. Perhaps the funniest moment in the movie comes when the evil Nazi (with so many moral shadings in today's world, it's always good to have guaranteed evil on the side of the bad guys) begins to read the scroll which he has purloined but finds that it is a recipe for won ton soup. Ha ha!

The clever monk has tatooed the scroll on his body, and memorized the last bit, just to prevent such an occurence!

I would be happy to recount the plot, just in case you don't have a chance to see Bulletproof Monk, which is no longer first run, but I've run out of time.

We also had a chance to see The Italian Job, where a bunch of cheated thieves scheme to steal back the gold which they have stolen, and get to drive around in hopped-up Mini-Coopers through a downtown Los Angeles which has its traffic lights rigged by one of their number, "The real Napster". Still out of time, let me just say he has his revenge on the traffic-control computer nerve center, and the revenge is sweet.
