Infectious Walk . . . . . jun 19 2003 — amwalk64.dat

As I was walking this morning, I thought of my fast-walking primary care physician, Pam Nagami. She sets a great example for her patients by walking briskly every day, but this morning there was another reason she was on my mind as I circled the one-mile walking circuit in my neighborhood.

As I walked, I was reading Dr. Nagami's book ManEater, My Life in Infectious Disease and Other Stories [buy at amazon] , which arrived last night. It's a real page- turner, and in fact it has made me late for work, because I walked an extra mile this morning, reading it all the way around, three circuits for three miles, except for a brief moment to say hi to the beautiful Asian woman walking her crafty old beagle.

I'll tell you more about the book after I finish it later on this evening. This book deserves a great review but I don't have time right now. I will say this much right now. After what I've read so far, I do not plan to visit Africa or Mexico, I'm not going to be eating raw fish or snake, and when you come right down to it, restaurant salad is pretty much looking like it'll be a memory, even right here in the United States.
