Auto Reliability . . . . . may 2 2003 8:17 — amwalk61.dat

This morning I saw a man start his car even though he wasn't sitting in it. I'm still not sure why. He just reached in across the seat and started it. I noticed that he had a Marine Corps sticker on the car, and I wondered if this was something he learned to do in his military training.

Civilians, as I understand it, are supposed to start their car and remain inside it while it is running, so that it doesn't just go zooming off. But maybe cars are so reliable now that we don't have to worry about that anymore.
