Strangely, a dream I wasn’t first-person in; the viewpoint switches back and forth. An older fellow is outside the compound.

He has a tape recorder going and he’s talking. He says, “I wonder why this prisoner doesn’t escape, he could easily pick the lock.” Then the prisoner, a young Japanese man, picks the lock of his barred cell. He opens it and jumps on the older man, who says he is free to leave.

The younger man gets the tape recorder, and removes the tape to take with him. “Yes, it’s better that you have that with you than me, since it’s evidence of your escape,” says the older man. “Please send it back to me when you arrive.” And the younger man leaves with the tape, fully intending to send it back.
