Continuing on, after our arrival at Charles de Gaule 2 we had no problem locating the RER stop by simply following signs to the 'Gare'. The architecture of the interrior connection was modernistic, sweeping and detailed providing much visual detail and I was able to resist a photo. The RER ride into Paris was reminiscent of Chicago with graffiti covering decaying brickyards and the buildings next to the tracks grdually becombing taller.
Joe asked why the graffiti artists did it, I responded it was a surplus of design students and the unemployed ones did it to express their alienation from the system, and that they probably stole the paint.
We checked in to Clement I rushed off to Orsay for Van G, Renoir, Degas, Monet, Maney, Ronni M. & Bugatti. Also Ingres 'La Source', a topic of which more later.
The plate of vegetables at the moules et frites place really hit the spot after no food and was the first installment in a series of french moderation and simplicity are key to the intelligent enjoyment of life.
The TGV trip to Avignon was a shock, as the 300 km speed was visibly faster than anything experienced in the U.S. An article in that day's Figaro discussed the incredible rise of vacation time travel, and I believe the TTGV has probably unified France in a way not fully examined at this time. Boy,fast and althoughsmooth slightly motion-nausea incducing. Heavily banked turns were a giveaway clue as to what was happening. I & J worked on an applied math conversion, coming up w/ 184 or 187 mph. Narrowly escaped missing our exit yet again. (see prior adventure).
